An established music composer teams up with an aspiring young female lyricist to write a top ten hit song, something they both want desperately. Their professional accomplishments are rosy, but their romantic life has its ups and downs. Vernon, uptight and all business, isnÌt used to SoniaÌs carefree eccentricities: She wears clothes from old movies, runs about 24 hours late, and has a hard time dropping old boyfriends who call her for advice at 3:00 in the morning. A small musical that will charm anyone who likes a hummable tune and a happy ending.
Auditions (attend either day):
Sunday, August 29, starting at 7:00 p.m.
Monday, August 30, starting at 7:00 p.m.
Please bring an up-beat song to sing. An accompanist will be available. The choreographer will ask each actor to do some simple movements.
Each actor will receive a small stipend.
Roles Available:
Vernon, late 20s to mid-30s, a successful song- writer.
Sonia, late 20s to mid- 30s, an up-and-coming lyricist.
3 Boys, early 20s to mid-30s , Vernon’s “voices” - backup singers who appear frequently.
3 Girls, early 20s to mid-30s, Sonia’s “voices” - backup singers who appear frequently. Early 20s to mid-30s.
Rehearsals: Begin immediately and are held generally weeknights and Sunday afternoons.
Performances: Weekends, October 8 - 24
